The Best Trading Simulator Apps in 2026, Grouped by What They Train

Search for a trading simulator app, a paper trading app or a trading game and you get tools that train very different things. A broker's paper trading account teaches order entry. A replay tool teaches timing on past charts. A stock market game teaches investing basics, and a pattern drill trains your eye. So we compared 10 trading practice tools from 9 makers, grouped by what each one trains, and picked one for each job instead of crowning a single winner.

Disclosure: we make Chart Guess, one of the apps below. Every tool, ours included, is described from its own official pages or store listings, checked October 12, 2026. Links to other tools are plain links, not affiliate links.

How we picked

On October 12, 2026 we checked each tool here against its official website, help pages or App Store and Google Play listings. Everything below comes from those pages, not hands-on testing. Where an official page showed conflicting prices, we link to it instead of quoting a number.

We grouped tools by what they train and didn't rank by store ratings or user counts. We left out tools whose official pages we couldn't verify when we checked; that's not a verdict on them.

Paper trading apps and broker demo accounts

Virtual money on a real trading platform: this is where you learn order types, stops and platform mechanics.

thinkorswim paperMoney (Charles Schwab)

paperMoney is the simulated trading mode built into thinkorswim on desktop, web, iPhone, iPad and Android. You get $100,000 of virtual buying power to trade stocks, options, futures and forex on real market data, in the same interface you'd use live.

Pricing: free for Schwab clients, and logging in needs a Schwab account. Non-clients can use it for 30 days with a thinkorswim Guest Pass, which can't be extended. Good to know: it's a full professional platform, not a course.

Webull paperTrade

paperTrade sits inside the Webull app, and you can switch between it and live trading. Orders fill against real-time data across stocks, ETFs, options (including multi-leg spreads), crypto, futures and event contracts, with US stocks in pre-market, after-hours and overnight sessions too.

Pricing: Webull labels it free, with unlimited virtual funds you can reset anytime; the app lists optional paid data and research add-ons. Good to know: an order won't fill if no trading volume follows it, market orders execute only in regular hours, and Webull's App Store disclosure says the tool "does not replicate every real-life scenario." Its FAQ says the newer paper system runs on mobile and desktop only.

moomoo Paper Trading

moomoo Paper Trading runs in the moomoo app on iOS and Android, on desktop and on the web. You start with $1 million in virtual money for stocks and options, or $10 million for futures, on live market data with real-time quotes.

Pricing: moomoo calls it "completely free" and says it doesn't require a brokerage account. Good to know: the web version trades stocks only, and its paper trading competitions aren't held on a regular basis.

TradingView Paper Trading

TradingView Paper Trading turns TradingView's charts into a simulated account, on the web and in its iPhone, iPad and Android apps. You place market, limit and stop orders with stop loss and take profit, then drag, modify or close them right on the chart, across almost every asset class TradingView covers. Its recurring competition, The Leap, has a public leaderboard.

Pricing: TradingView says it's available to all users, with "no fees or catches," and has a free Basic plan alongside paid ones. The Google Play app says it contains ads. Good to know: it's self-directed, and TradingView's help describes no lessons or grading inside it.

Practice like it's real: these accounts start you with $100,000 (thinkorswim), $1 million (moomoo) or unlimited funds (Webull). Size each practice trade like the account you'd really fund, and set a stop, or you'll rehearse habits you can't afford.

Chart replay and backtesting simulators

Replay hides the future and plays past price action forward, so you practice timing, entries and patience without hindsight.

TradingView Bar Replay

Bar Replay plays a TradingView chart forward from a bar you choose, or a random one, at a speed you set or one bar at a time. Drawings, indicators and multi-chart layouts come along.

Pricing: part of TradingView, which has a free Basic plan and paid plans. Daily and higher timeframes replay all available data. For intraday, TradingView's help lists limits only for paid plans: Essential gets 6 months of 1-minute data, Plus a year, and Premium and up all available time-based data. Good to know: it doesn't work on Renko, Kagi, Point & Figure and several other chart types, and since you pick the symbol and start point, avoiding hindsight is up to you.

FX Replay

FX Replay is a browser-based backtesting and practice platform. You replay markets bar by bar on TradingView-powered charts, place simulated trades and review them in an automatic journal. Its Prop Firm Simulator lets you rehearse a prop-firm challenge under rules you set, such as profit targets and drawdown limits. History for major forex pairs goes back to 2003.

Pricing: a free Beginner plan (no credit card, and not a trial), plus paid Intermediate and Pro plans with free trials; see FX Replay's pricing page for current rates. Good to know: the free plan is capped at 2 backtesting sessions, 1 indicator and 1 week of data retention, and futures and seconds-level data need Pro.

Trading game apps

Lessons, quizzes and a simulator wrapped in game mechanics. They train broad trading knowledge more than any single skill.

Trading Game - Stock Simulator

Trading Game (iPhone, iPad and Android) bundles a Trading Academy of 150+ lessons with a day trading simulator on live market data for stocks, forex, commodities and more, a virtual stock portfolio with a screener, daily chart-pattern quizzes, and Trading Battles against friends, AI or other traders. AI reviews your practice trades.

Pricing: free download with in-app purchases. The website says "Free to start. No card required," and Pro unlocks AI coaching, advanced courses and unlimited tools. The US App Store's in-app purchase list shows Pro Tools - Weekly at $4.99, Trading Game Pro (Monthly) at $19.99, Trading School Pro (Yearly) at $49.99 and $99.99, and PRO Lifetime at $249.99. Good to know: the simulator charges no commissions but uses separate buy and sell prices, and the App Store lists it in English only.

Day Trading Simulator & Games

Day Trading Simulator & Games (iPhone only on the App Store; Day Trading Academy on Google Play) is a beginner course with games: 80+ lessons across five tracks, each ending in a test, plus Pattern Hunter, a candlestick-pattern game, and other mini-games. Its practice simulator gives you a $1,000 demo balance on live prices for nine assets: Apple, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Tesla, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin and XRP.

Pricing: free download with ads and in-app purchases; the developer says some advanced features may require a subscription. The US App Store's in-app purchase list includes a one-time $9.99 ad removal plus Stock Trading Master, Day Trading Master and Market Insider purchases priced between $6.99 and $149.99, without billing periods. Good to know: lessons work offline, and stocks trade only during NYSE hours (crypto trades 24/7).

Stock market simulators (portfolio games)

A virtual portfolio you build and manage over days or weeks, often in a contest. These train investing decisions rather than chart reading.

Wall Street Survivor

Wall Street Survivor runs in desktop and mobile browsers; we found no App Store or Google Play app. You get $100,000 in virtual money for stocks, ETFs, options and crypto, mini-courses that let you "study and trade at the same time," and monthly, national and private contests.

Pricing: free, with no subscription fee or credit card needed to open a practice account. Good to know: its footer says quote data is delayed at least 15 minutes, while other pages say real-time, so check before relying on intraday prices.

Pattern-recognition drills

A drill shows you a chart, takes your call and grades it in seconds. It trains the read every trade starts with, not order entry.

Chart Guess (ours)

This is our app, so weigh this entry accordingly. It's a drill, not a full simulator: you read a realistic candlestick chart, generated from historical market behavior, call BUY or SELL, and get graded instantly as the next candles reveal. Blitz Mode and ranked duels add time pressure, and Edge Analytics shows your win rate on every pattern, your average read speed and your three weakest setups. Behind it sits a 53-pattern library. No ads.

The catch: it's a free download, but playing requires Chart Guess Pro: $7.99 a week, $12.99 a month or $29.99 a year on iPhone, with no free trial. Google Play lists it as Master Chart Trading Patterns, with in-app items at $16.99 to $89.99. It's English only, and it has no order types, position sizing or portfolio tracking, so pair it with a paper trading account.

How to choose

For the order to use them in, see how to practice trading without real money and games that teach trading.

Keep it in perspective: simulated fills aren't live fills. Schwab and moomoo say paper trading results are simulated and don't ensure success in live trading, and Webull says its paper trading tool does not replicate every real-life scenario. Patterns are probabilities, not guarantees, and this page is education, not financial advice.
